Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo star in John Chu’s films as the Good Witch Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West Elphaba, respectively.
Colman Domingo has been chosen to lend his voice to the Cowardly Lion in Wicked: Forever. The news was announced on both the film’s and Domingo’s social media platforms Monday morning.

In the second of two Wicked films directed by Jon Chubased on the Tony-winning Broadway musical, the bestseller of Gregory Maguire that preceded it and the novel by L.Frank Baum from 1900, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (adapted from the film classic of the same name), we are also expected to see the introduction of other main characters from the Wicked-inspired The Wizard of Oz, such as The Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and Dorothy herself, although it is not yet clear who will play those roles.

First presented on the Great White Way in 2003, Wicked is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz that explores how green-skinned Elphaba (Erivo) became the Wicked Witch of the West, as well as sorceress Glinda (Grande)’s journey to becoming the Good Witch. Chu directed the play from scripts by Winne Holzmanscreenwriter of the work, and Stephen Schwartz, composer and lyricist. Marc Platt produced the play through his Universal-based production company Marc Platt Productions, along with David Stone.
Wicked: Forever opens in theaters on November 20. Upcoming, Domingo will also appear in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man and Gus Van Sant’s Dead Man’s Wire.
