The actor revealed that despite having the approval of Lucasfilm, the studio that owns the rights to George Lucas’ creation declined the idea.
Apparently Adam Driver I wasn’t done with the universe Star Wars and proposed to Lucasfilm and disney a spin-off that would have been a direct sequel to The Rise of Skywalker of 2019.

Driver took on the role of Ben Solo for the Star Wars sequel trilogy, playing the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, and the grandson of Anakin Skywalker, better known as Darth Vader.


As you may already know, Ben Solo becomes the villain Kylo Ren, who has a redemption arc and apparently dies at the end of The Rise of Skywalker. However, Driver felt that his character had unfinished business and thought of an idea for a sequel.
“I was always interested in making another Star Wars movie”Driver said in an interview with AP. “I had been talking about doing another one since 2021. Kathleen (Kennedy) contacted me. I always said, with a great director and a great story, I would be there in a second. I loved that character and I loved playing it.”

Driver detailed a concept for the film in which Steven Soderbergh he wrote a script for which the actor says was “one of the coolest (censored) scripts I’ve ever been a part of.”
“We presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our approach and why we were doing it,” Driver said. “We presented it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, and they refused. They didn’t understand how Ben Solo was alive. Period”.
The film was tentatively titled The Hunt for Ben Solo and Driver added: “But it doesn’t exist anymore, so I can finally talk about it.”
In a statement to the AP, Soderbergh said: “I really enjoyed making the movie in my head. I’m sorry fans won’t be able to see it.”
The universe of Star Wars There is no shortage of films, with multiple projects underway. The next movie to be released is The Mandalorian and Grogua spin-off of the series Disney+ starring Peter Pascal like Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin. The film, directed by Jon Favreauwill premiere on May 22, 2026.
Another film currently in production is Star Wars: Starfighterstarring Ryan Gosling and which will be released in theaters on May 28, 2027.
