Sundance organizers on Tuesday revealed the first round of programming details for the 2026 edition, which will run from January 22 to February 1.
The latest edition of Sundance Festival in Park City (Utah) will include a tribute to its founder, the late Robert Redfordas well as anniversary screenings of films that helped put the independent festival on the map.

Sundance organizers on Tuesday revealed the first round of programming details for the 2026 edition, which will be held from January 22 to February 1. This will be the last year held in Park City before the festival moves to Boulder, Colorado, in 2027.


Next year’s festival will serve as a “meaningful tribute to Robert Redford and his vision that has inspired generations of artists and redefined cinema around the world,” Sundance said in a press release. Redford, a leading man turned Oscar-winning director, died in September at age 89. In his honor, Sundance will present a commemorative screening of Downhill Racer from 1969, Redford’s first independent film and a passion project that served as a catalyst for create the Sundance Institute and Film Festival.
Then during the festival, there will be gatherings including the “Celebrating the Sundance Institute: A Tribute to Founder Robert Redford” event, the Salt Lake City Celebration event, and the directors’ brunch at Sundance Mountain Resort, where the 2026 filmmakers will gather.
“This will be an especially poignant year for us as we reflect on the vision of our late founder, Robert
Redford, who redefined cinema and provided a home for generations of artists by creating the Sundance Institute,” said Eugene Hernandez, director of the Sundance Film Festival. “We look forward to honoring the festival’s history in Park City and Robert Redford’s legacy. “Their fearless support of artistic integrity and risk-taking is fundamental to the work we continue to do, and the 2026 Festival will be a celebration of that important mission.”
Films that will be part of the 2026 edition of the Sundance Festival
A legacy program, dedicated to past festival favorites, will take place from January 27 to 30. The program includes Little Miss Sunshine (with a new digital restoration), as well as Saw of James Wan, house party of Reginald Hudlin, Half Nelson of Ryan Fleckthe documentary American Dream of Barbara Kopple and Humpday of the deceased Lynn Shelton.

A full slate of world premieres will be announced later this year.
