The Netflix series premieres today, Wednesday, October 22, and tells the story of a serial killer that took place between 1968 and 1985 in Florence, Italy.
Netflix is one of the most used streaming platforms worldwide and there is a production formula that works very well: series about real serial killers. The Monster of Florence is not like other Netflix adaptations (Dahmer or Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez).

Synopsis of “The Monster of Florence”
For almost two decades in Florence, a serial killer spread terror by attacking young couples seeking privacy in isolated places. Throughout those years, several double homicidesalways with the same modus operandi, kept the authorities and the population in suspense, without ever offering a clear solution to the case.
The miniseries reconstruct this terrifying journey: the bodies found, the recurring weapon, the investigation that advances little by little while life continues normally around them.
In its plot, the series delves so much into the force of social fear as in the contradictions of the official investigation. It shows how, despite having clues and suspects, justice was unable to positively identify the culprit, leaving the case open and shrouding the story in uncertainty.
Beyond the crime itself, the production reflects on the time, the distant seventies and eighties in Italy, the sensitivity of the population and the network of power that surrounded the investigations. A disturbing look at a past that continues to resonate in the present.
