In Ukraine, democratic values are being attacked “in the most unscrupulous way,” the Prince of Wales said on Tuesday during a visit to the English coastal town of Southend-on-Sea, where British MP David Amess was stabbed to death by an assailant last year.
“We stand in solidarity with all those who oppose the brutal aggression,” Charles said. His son Prince William and Duchess Kate had expressed their solidarity with Ukraine a few days ago, but less clear words against the war.
Selenskyj thanked the Royals
On Tuesday morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded with a statement of solidarity. He and his wife Olena are grateful to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for “standing by our country and supporting our brave citizens”. He concluded by saying, “Good will prevail.”
The royals usually do not comment on political issues and do not vote.
