Sean “Diddy” Combs’ best friend talks about his prison experiences: A prisoner broke into Diddy’s cell and held a knife to his neck.
Sean “Diddy” Combs (55) appears to have been the victim of an assault at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His long-time friend said about the incident: A prisoner with a homemade weapon broke into his cell. “He woke up with a knife at his throat,” explains Finney, who has known the convicted rapper for over three decades.
The incident was already mentioned during Diddy’s court hearing by attorney Brian Steel, but was not further specified. A guard stopped the inmate, who was armed with a homemade knife, the lawyer said. According to Steel, the perpetrator wanted to earn “recognition” by harming the prominent inmate.
Sean “Diddy” Combs: Intimidation instead of attempted murder?
However, Finney does not believe there was a serious murder attempt. “If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed,” says the music producer. He suspects it was more of an intimidation tactic. The MDC Brooklyn is considered one of the most dangerous prisons in the USA with massive problems with drug use, violence and a lack of staff.
“If you’re in prison and you’ve been charged with anything sexual, that’s not a good place to be,” Finney explains. Inmates would take such cases personally and attempt to dispense “prison justice.”
Diddy was sentenced in early October to four years and two months in prison and a $500,000 fine in connection with prostitution. A jury had previously found him guilty. This week his lawyers filed an appeal.
Diddy’s lawyers are also hoping for a transfer to the more secure Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey. They argue that their client has already spent a year in “inhumane” conditions – with a lack of sunlight, exercise and clean drinking water.
