This is the second reboot of the “Fantastic Four” story, which dives headfirst into the Marvel multiverse.
What Fantastic Four: Getting Started is about
The film introduces Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic (Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Kirby), Johnny Storm/The Human Torch (Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Moss-Bachrach) as they face their biggest challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a voracious space god named Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and her enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and take all its inhabitants with it was not enough, things could get even more complicated.

Shakman told Empire that he and his collaborators on the film have “used vintage lenses and adopted a cinematic approach that feels more of the era”. That said, the filmmaker also noted, “Of course, we still have a lot of computer-generated animation.”
While “Fantastic Four” is set in its own world, Shakman admitted that it won’t be long before his characters interact with other MCU heroes. Marvel already confirmed it, including Quinn, Moss-Bachrach, Kirby and Pascal in the live cast announcement of Avengers: Doomsday.
The action-adventure film also stars Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne and Sarah Niles. Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by Matt Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis and Tim Lewis.
The film will join other Marvel films on Disney+ and the Fantastic Four will return to the big screen on December 18, 2026 in Avengers: Doomsday.
