Ariana DeBose inspires Hollywood: After her supporting role in Spielberg’s “West Side Story”, the dancer and singer is to be in front of the camera for a new Marvel film as a voodoo priestess.
“West Side Story” actress Ariana DeBose continues on her successful path in Hollywood.
The 31-year-old Latina star has been awarded a role in the planned Marvel superhero film “Kraven the Hunter”, as reported by the US industry portals “Deadline.com” and “Hollywood Reporter”. DeBose is said to embody a voodoo priestess who has a turbulent relationship with the villain Kraven.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays the anti-hero, along with Oscar winner Russell Crowe. Kraven is Spider-Man’s enemy in Marvel Comics. JC Chandor («All Is Lost», «A Most Violent Year») is on board as director. The Sony Pictures studio plans to bring the film to cinemas in January 2023.
DeBose, a dancer and singer, starred in the hit musical “Hamilton” on New York’s Broadway. After a film role in the Netflix musical “The Prom”, Steven Spielberg brought the actress in front of the camera for “West Side Story”. Her supporting role as Anita won her a Golden Globe and SAG Award in January. DeBose is also considered this year’s Oscar favorite.
