Google and Android are working on newer ones “Find device”-Function

Google is apparently working on a new feature for its service “Find device”. With the app “Spot” in the future, users should be able to track down devices that were believed to be lost and misplaced. iPhone owners have been familiar with this feature for a number of years.

Anyone who keeps misplacing their Android smartphone should soon get active help from the manufacturer. Under the name of “Spot” Google and Android are working on a function that should make it possible to find lost cell phones.

This feature will be familiar to Apple users. For several years it has been possible to use your iPhone, Mac or iPad via the “Where is?”Track down function. The products communicate with each other offline via a Bluetooth signal and can thus determine the location of the device they are looking for, if the option is activated.

The new Google function can only be used online

As the beta version of the new app that has now appeared in the Play Store shows, Google is apparently taking a different approach. The internet blog “9to5 Google” analyzed the beta version 21.24.13 of the Google Play Services app and came across the new feature. The smartphones you are looking for must therefore be logged into a WiFi network or have a sufficient Internet connection with the mobile data. In addition, the users have to “Application activated” agree. As soon as the battery is empty or the internet connection is lost, it is no longer possible to “Spot” to use.

The data analysis also provides other important information. Among other things, Android users should also be able to support other users in their search for their devices. However, this is also optional and must be confirmed beforehand by the individual holder of the device.

The authors assume that the logo is from “Spot” could be a white triangle surrounded by two other triangles in different shades of blue.
