These four musicians have plenty of their own songs to play with the Titanic, but that is not precisely the proposal of this band that appears and disappears in different times and places, and that today at midnight will be reborn at Club Bebop. But Losavio, in dialogue with this newspaper, warns that no matter how much they claim it, they will not play any of their own songs in their next shows of this new stage: “It is that the idea of the Titanic, since it began and in its successive refloats, it’s just playing covers of songs from the 60s and 70s that everyone knows. But in versions that the listener may not recognize until more than half of the song has elapsed. We have a great repertoire of international rock and pop songs from those years, and we will surely play things as dissimilar as “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin or “Sugar” by The Archies, but always in our own way. Ours is to undo songs that we like and redo them in our own way”.
Losavio, who was part of Los Twist on two great albums, “Cataratas musicals” and “El 5 en la back”, acknowledges that there was a tendency of this mythical band to put together ghost groups with some of its members, for example Rolo and his Satellites, Agrupación Parisi -in which everyone smoked Parisiennes- or the legendary Ray Milland Band in homage to Roger Corman’s film “The Man with X-Ray Eyes”, but he assures that even this phenomenon “was something more armed, while that the Titanic arose more spontaneously from the meeting between musicians who had known each other for a long time. For example, there was a meeting in Spain around 2003 that ended up being one of the most successful incarnations of this band that sinks and rises in the musical ocean”.
You can never fully know if there won’t be any extra guests, and the only thing that Losavio said about it is that there will be an appearance by the singer and saxophonist Michel Bryman at the Bebop show. “It’s that the band is so informal that it allows any change in the formation, to have an idea it’s enough to say that at the beginning I didn’t play the guitar but the drums”. Given its intrinsic characteristics, not much can be known about the future plans of the Titanic, except that after today’s date on Bebop they will float again next Friday, March 18, in Cañada de Gómez, Santa Fe.
