Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have launched a fundraiser for Ukraine. 48 hours later they are halfway there.

The couple would then add an additional $3 million to the deal. Kunis and Kutcher are now a big step closer to this plan: after 48 hours, half of the donations were already collected.

“We’re halfway there. We’re super excited. We want to thank every single one of you. The last 48 hours have been incredible,” explained Mila Kunis, in which she can be seen alongside her husband. Around 16.8 million dollars (around 15.5 million euros) have already been donated.

People in Ukraine need help

The two had also called for the action. In it, the actress said, among other things: “I was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, in 1983 and came to America in 1991.” Although she has always felt like an American and is grateful to the country for everything, she is currently very proud to be Ukrainian. “The events taking place in Ukraine are devastating. There is no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity.”

Husband Kutcher added that he admired the courage of the people of Ukraine. At the same time, the couple also became aware that the people who had taken themselves to safety currently needed help. “The biggest challenge right now is logistics. We need shelter and need to get supplies and resources to the area,” the actor explained.

The donations collected benefit the organizations Flexport.org and Airbnb.org. Flexport is currently delivering relief supplies to refugee camps in Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Moldova. The online portal Airbnb provides free temporary accommodation for refugees from Ukraine. The fundraiser is intended to “have a direct impact on refugee and humanitarian aid,” the Hollywood stars explain on their “GoFundMe” website.
