Cameron Diaz: She never washes her face

She was one of the acting models of the 1990s. Now Cameron Diaz tells surprising details about her reduced beauty routine.

Like Gwyneth Paltrow (49), Cameron Diaz (49) was one of the successful models who switched to acting in the 1990s and were able to celebrate even greater success in this industry. It is all the more surprising what Diaz now interviewed RuPaul’s (61) “Drag Race” star Michelle Visage (53).

“The last thing I think about every day is how I look,” she says, adding, “I don’t care.” And she literally doesn’t do anything about her looks either. “I hardly ever wash my face,” she continued, adding that she has “a billion beauty products” gathering dust on the shelves. “Once or twice a month” she applies something, beyond that she “cannot invest her energy in this topic”.

Beauty features in comparison

That was different once. But today she says of the Hollywood film industry: Its temptations are “such a trap”. And further: “I am absolutely a victim of all the social objectifications and exploitations that women are exposed to.” She admits that she obsessed over all of these things in earlier stages of her life.

“It’s hard not to do that, it’s hard not to look at yourself and not measure yourself by other traits of beauty.” Not doing that anymore is “one of the greatest things I’ve experienced in the last eight years”.

Retreat from the limelight to family life

Cameron Diaz retired from the spotlight eight years ago. The last role she appeared on screen was as Colleen Hannigan in the musical adaptation ‘Annie’ (2014). Since then she has focused on her family and entrepreneurial activities.

She has been married to musician Benji Madden (42) since January 2015. In December 2019, they became parents to a daughter.
