He mentioned the organization he co-founded, “Community Organized Relief Effort,” or “Core.” Employees of the group are currently at the Ukrainian border, providing refugees with hygiene kits, water and cash. This is made possible by donations. As a Hollywood star, Penn is the main marketing figure for “Core”.
It’s not the first time the filmmaker has supported a good cause. The organization helped after the severe earthquake in Haiti – both in the short and long term. Penn himself was also in the disaster area at the time, helping people and getting involved. Recently he was involved in the Corona aid. “Core” supported local testing centers and vaccination services, with a focus on poorer areas in the United States.

At the beginning of the Russian invasion, Penn attended a press conference with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. “I don’t know if he knew he was born for it, but it was clear that I was in the presence of someone special,” Penn said of Zelenskyy. “And I think that’s reflected in so many Ukrainians that was new to the modern world in terms of the courage and dignity and love that emanates from this man and the way he has united this country,” he said of his admiration.
