He made Aaliyah big
Timbaland started his successful career as a music producer in the 1990s. Together with his childhood friend Missy Elliott (50) he worked as a songwriter and producer team. Timbaland and Aaliyah also co-produced the soundtrack for the chart-topping martial arts film Romeo Must Die (2000).
Aaliyah died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001 at the age of 22. After her tragic death, Timbaland declared that “the chemistry was right” between the two. “I lost half my creativity to her.” Aaliyah was the “most remarkable person I’ve ever met”.
Ginuwine celebrated breakthrough thanks to Timbaland
