Brothers Prince William and Prince Harry have been in virtual silence for two years. A royal insider now reported how the dispute burdens the queen’s grandchildren.
Until just a few years ago, it was unimaginable that anything could come between brothers Prince Harry and Prince William. The two were considered a sworn unit, and grew even closer through the early death of their mother Diana. But at least since Harry blasphemed about his family in an interview with Oprah Winfrey and accused William and his father Charles of being prisoners in the palace, the relationship has been frosty. Now the Royal expert Duncan Larcombe has spoken out in the British press about the dispute.
“There’s a lot of regrets and I think that goes for both sides,” he says. “Anyone who knows William knows that falling out with his brother isn’t something he can forget about,” he said. As you can imagine, it is a strong permanent strain. Also for Harry. “They’re both as stubborn as donkeys,” Larcombe points out. He accompanied Prince Harry in particular for many years on his travels and also wrote a book about him.

Harry and his wife Meghan gave up all royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States. They now live with their children Archie and Lilibet in Meghan’s native California. Harry flew to London for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip in April 2021, after which he also attended the dedication of a memorial statue honoring his mother Diana in the summer of 2021. This even revealed Harry and William side by side – but there was no word of a reconciliation.
On the contrary: While Harry is said to have at least sporadic contact with his father Prince Charles again, the brothers should still be radio silent. Larcombe is still optimistic. It’s never nice when two brothers are at odds, he says. “I believe there will always be a way back.”
