Kurt Krömer explains the diagnosis of his depression: “I finally knew where to put it. Of course that changed everything.”

In his book “You mustn’t believe everything you think. My Depression” Kurt Krömer (47) promotes an open approach to mental illness and wants to help people who suffer from depression themselves. the comedian talks about his diagnosis and his current state of health.

“I only found out about my depression in the summer of 2020. Before that, I didn’t even know what was wrong with me,” says Krömer. When he came to the clinic and finally got clarity about his condition, he immediately came out to his friends. “I jumped for joy with gratitude to finally know why I’m so off track.” The certainty was a big step. “I finally knew where to put it. Of course that changed everything.”

Kurt Krömer: “I no longer have symptoms”

The comedian continues to explain that his therapists told him that he had recovered from the depression very well. “I’m still taking antidepressants, but that’s going to be discontinued soon. We’ll see what happens after we stop. I no longer have symptoms.” When asked if he’s afraid of getting depressed again, he always says, “I don’t deal with it again until I do get depressed. That’s when I call my therapist and I know, now is the day shit starts all over again. But so far, toi toi toi, I’m fine.”
