Above all, Birkenstock stands for wearing comfort and health. So far, the shoe brand has not been associated with glamour. But now the company is collaborating with a legendary luxury label.
It is perhaps the most unusual cooperation since Balenciaga and Crocs: star shoe designer Manolo Blahnik and sandal manufacturer Birkenstock are launching a joint collection.
Two years ago, the 79-year-old, whose shoes became famous through the “Sex and the City” series, was the face of Birkenstock’s spring/summer campaign together with his niece Kristina, who is also the managing director of his brand. Both then posed in the orthopedic shoes in the original “Manolo Blahnik” boutique in London.

Now he even gives the sandals his unmistakable design and adorns the Birkenstock classics Arizona and Boston with crystals and luxurious materials such as velvet and smooth leather – available in the colors fuchsia, blue and black.
The blue velvet styles in particular are reminiscent of a more casual take on the crystal-encrusted pumps Carrie Bradshaw chose for her wedding to Big in Sex and the City.

The sandals are packed in an exclusive, dotted shoe box and a shoe bag in the traditional Manolo Blahnik design.
The first part of the collection will be launched on March 24, 2022. The second will follow in June. The costs are between 495 euros and 595 euros.

The star designer also wears the iconic sandals with the characteristic cork footbed privately: “Birkenstocks have always been part of my wardrobe — I’ve loved and worn mine for many, many years,” says the Spaniard, who is very happy about the collaboration: ” I’m thrilled that we were able to work together. Combining the aesthetic of Manolo Blahnik with the everyday comfort of Birkenstocks is just wonderful!”
