As stated in a broadcast on Friday, the money comes from tax revenue and is intended to be used to cover the production costs incurred.
“We stand by the people of Ukraine and provide support wherever possible,” Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) was quoted as saying. “These 80,000 euros are a small but important contribution to reducing the costs of the concert and thus increasing the income for direct help on site.” Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) also thanked everyone involved for their commitment and the expected audience for their support. “With this initiative, Austrian pop music shows a lot of heart and solidarity.”
