The “Ukraine Update” can be found Monday to Friday on rtl.news, ntv.de and on the YouTube streaming portal. The ten-minute news will be presented by Ukrainian TV journalist Karolina Ashion, RTL announced on Friday.
The 46-year-old had worked for various broadcasters for more than 20 years and fled from Kyiv to Germany at the beginning of the war. Ashion himself was quoted as saying: “I want to make a contribution so that people who seek protection here in Germany find out what is happening in our homeland.”
RTL News Managing Director Stephan Schmitter added: “The situation of the people in Ukraine and the refugees in Germany is depressing – with the “Ukraine Update” we want to give you a secure news overview.”
