Rumors that “The Cursed Legacy” could be made into a film, a play by Jack Thorne based on a story devised by the author of the Harry Potter literary saga, JK Rowling, had begun to roll at the end of last year when the director Chris Columbus said that he would be happy to reunite the original cast for that purpose.
Columbus, director of the first two films in the film saga -“Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” (2001) and “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” (2002)-, had assured that this was “a great play” and that Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were already “the right age to play those roles”. It is that the piece is set in the adulthood of Harry and his company.
Another reason that boosted the illusions of the fans was the premiere last January of the special for HBO Max “Back to Hogwarts” two decades after the first film, in which a large part of the cast reviewed their time in the franchise.
“This is not the answer that everyone expects, but I think I was able to come back (for the special) and enjoy it because it is no longer part of my day to day. I’m getting to a point where I think I came out of ‘Potter’ okay and I’m happy where I’m at right now, and going back would be too much of a change in my life.”explained the actor.
It is that although, as could be seen in the last film, Radcliffe has great affection for the character that put him on the map of the audiovisual industry, he has spent more than a decade exploring projects that offer him other challenges as an interpreter.
Right now he is embarking on the biopic of singer-songwriter and comedian “Weird Al” Yankovic, among many other roles.
However, The actor did not rule out that in the future he may change his mindand drew a parallel with the protagonists of “Star Wars”, who, already very old, resumed their roles for the third trilogy of the saga: “I will never say never, but the boys of ‘Star Wars’ were like 30, 40 years before I came back. For me it was only 10. It’s not something that really interests me right now.”
