One of the best things about childhood is discovering fascinating human stories for the first time – preferably with soulful carers at your side who already know what exciting things lie ahead for the offspring.
The Theater des Kinds in Linz offers the possibility of such a communal experience from March 25, when the fourth premiere of this season leads into the world of Ötzi. The man from the late Neolithic, whose body was exposed by the ice in the Ötztal Alps in 1991, a sensational find that has occupied scientists ever since.
The play “In the footsteps of Ötzi” – based on a text by the German dramaturge and author Christian Schönfelder – directed by John F. Kutil is intended to convey knowledge in a humorous way for everyone aged seven and over. The story is told along the lines of a detective story. For this, the acting trio Simone Neumayr, David Baldessari and Matthias Hacker slip into the role of curious explorers who are making a documentary about Ötzi. Will the “Iceman” be brought to life himself as an actor? Kutil: “Of course. Everyone will be Ötzi here.”
Karl Lindner is responsible for the music, “who is practically part of our musical inventory,” as theater manager Andreas Baumgartner puts it.
Lindner lets his version of Stone Age music ring out – with horn, flute and lutes sung by the ensemble and team. Lindner: “It’s going to be archaic and hearty.” (nb)
