Men should be actively involved in raising children. Calls for actress Collien Ulmen-Fernandes.
Actress Collien Ulmen-Fernandes (40) is committed to bringing up children on an equal footing.
In an interview with the “Berliner Morgenpost” she was asked what an ideal father looks like from her point of view. “This is someone you don’t have to ask to take care of your child,” she said. “He should get involved actively and on his own initiative instead of just working for his mother.”
Ulmen-Fernandes also deals with the topic in the ZDF format “Rabenfather or Super Dads?” apart. «I fight with documentaries for an equal society. So at home, equality is not negotiable,” she told the newspaper. The actress (“Traumschiff”) is with moderator Christian Ulmen.
You have to make sure from the start that the man isn’t just the assistant who hands the woman the wet wipes while she’s changing diapers. “The Danish family therapist Jesper Juul said: When the child is new in the world, women should also be gone.” When the father is alone with the child, he develops personal responsibility. That means that the mother also lets him do things.
She’s heard from various women that they find it totally sexy when men push prams. “And I can only agree with that. It’s masculine when men take care of children, when they can talk about their feelings and sometimes cry. But many men still believe that women find something else attractive. You have other ideas of masculinity standing in your way.”
