Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have raised more than $30 million for the people of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the two personally on Twitter – and praised them in the highest tones.
It was a moving video that actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher posted to Instagram in early March: In the clip, the couple called on their followers to donate money to the people of Ukraine. They want to raise $30 million. The two film stars themselves set a good example: They said they added three million dollars from their own pockets.
Two weeks later, the goal was already achieved. On Friday, the two posted a video on Instagram in which they confirmed the achievement of the goal and thanked 65,000 donors. “We are overwhelmed and grateful for the support,” said Kunis. Kutcher vowed that he and his wife “will treat every dollar as if it were donated from our pocket.” At the same time, the actress (“Black Swan”) called for donations to continue: “Please don’t stop. This is just the beginning of a very, very, very long journey”.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher impress with their Ukraine commitment
With the campaign, the two actors attracted attention at the highest level: none other than the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj praised the fundraising campaign. “Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were among the first to respond to our grief,” the 44-year-old wrote on Twitter. And appreciated the commitment in the highest tones: “Grateful for your support. Impressed by your determination. You inspire the world,” he said.

There are biographical reasons why Mila Kunis is so committed to the country: the 38-year-old was born in 1983 in the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi, which at the time was still part of the Soviet Union. The parents emigrated to Los Angeles in 1991 after the collapse of the Eastern Bloc, where Kunis soon made a career in film. In 2015 she married her colleague Ashton Kutcher, the couple has two children.
