Binding Culture Prize for Anne Imhof

Binding Culture Prize for Anne Imhof

The prize, which is worth 50,000 euros, will be presented in Frankfurt on July 2nd. The 44-year-old managed to rise rapidly in the art world within a few years. After a solo exhibition in 2013 in Frankfurt’s Portikus, she received the Berlin National Gallery Prize in 2015 for her installation “Rage”.

At the Venice Biennale 2017, the German Pavilion received the Golden Lion for the best national contribution with Imhof’s performance “Faust”. Solo exhibitions in London and Paris followed in 2019 and 2021. Her performances revolve around power and powerlessness, arbitrariness and violence, resistance and freedom. When no performances take place, relics testify to this, which are then considered independent works. Imhof attracted international attention and enriched the art world, said Bergit Countess Douglas, Chair of the Foundation Board.
