Luke Mockridge has appeared publicly for the first time since his break. Actually, he wanted to use the time to contemplate. But a video raises doubts.
He humbly stepped in front of the camera: “What I’m accused of didn’t happen,” said a visibly crushed Luke Mockridge on Instagram. He posted the video last August. The entertainer was responding to allegations by his ex-girlfriend, who accused him of attempted rape, and announced that he would not be making any more appearances in 2021 to process the situation.
Less than four weeks later, Mockridge commented on the matter a second time and announced a longer break: “Due to the current reporting on my person, I will extend my break indefinitely.” He needs time, rest and distance “to understand, to learn and to heal,” he said in a pastoral tone.
Six months later, the self-imposed retreat is apparently over: on Thursday, March 24th, the entertainer returned to the stage. He celebrated his comeback in the Stadthalle Hagen in front of 250 spectators. It was also the start of his “A Way Back to Luckyland” tour, with around 50 performances planned until July. A tight program.
Luke Mockridge is back
It was clear that Mockridge would come back at some point, and of course the 33-year-old has every right to do so. A preliminary investigation against him was set, he is legally irreproachable. In addition, the comedian has taken a lot of time to go into himself.
But a video published on Instagram on Saturday raises doubts as to whether Luke Mockridge really used the time “to understand” as he had announced himself. In the clip, he steps in front of the camera with a serious expression. “Now I want to tell you something that I find very difficult,” he says – and imitates the remorseful tone with which he announced his break last year.

Against the background of the allegations made against Mockridge in the past, fans had to be prepared for everything. But after a short break, the entertainer brought out a tongue twister: “Wedding dress remains wedding dress and red cabbage remains cabbage”.
All for a cheap joke
Mockridge calculated the effect of the video precisely, and as can be seen from the reactions of the fans, the calculation worked: by imitating the remorseful gesture of his earlier videos, his fans fear for a brief moment that he could postpone his comeback again. “Boa and I were scared you said you’d never be seen anywhere else,” wrote one follower. “Oh, I thought it would be postponed or canceled again,” commented another.
The relief among his fans is palpable. But for everyone who had hoped that Luke Mockridge would use the time off to come back, it’s a slap in the face. It shows that the 33-year-old still hasn’t understood the scope of the allegations against him.
His old videos, the evidence of his contrition, have since been deleted. Now Mockridge sets out to ridicule any memory of it. And all for a cheap joke.
