Luke Mockridge is back on stage. The fans gave him a standing ovation when he made his comeback. He already planned the tour during his break.
For fans of Luke Mockridge, the gift-giving took place a day earlier last Christmas. On December 23, the comedian surprisingly reported on Instagram with a video in which he announced a new tour for 2022.
The news came unexpectedly. Because in September, the 33-year-old had ordered a break of indefinite duration. The background was allegations by an ex-girlfriend that he tried to rape her. Mockridge denied the allegations, but admitted to having been in a toxic relationship, speaking of “two people who are poison for each other”. It was always too much of everything: “too much emotion, too much passion, too much argument – and never really real love!” Now he needs time, rest and distance, according to Mockridge, “to understand, to learn and to heal”.
Luke Mockridge announces big tour
Shortly before Christmas, however, the gaze was already directed ahead again: A big tour had to be planned. It was actually supposed to start at the beginning of February with performances in Gütersloh, Olsberg, Osterholz-Scharmbeck and Cuxhaven. But due to the pandemic, these dates had to be postponed.
So his “A way back to Luckyland” tour started last Thursday in front of 250 spectators in Hagen. This was followed by performances in Eschweiler (Friday) and Ahlen (Saturday), this Sunday Mockridge is performing in Arnsberg.
Around 50 performances are planned by July – according to the company, advance sales are going extremely well: 87 percent of all tickets are already sold out, the comedian told his fans at the beginning of January.
“No matter how shitty everything is sometimes, you’re never completely alone,” shared Mockridge in his video on December 23. As it turns out, he was right: his fans were waiting for him. When he appeared in Hagen, they celebrated him with standing ovations, as “Bild” writes.
The fact that the comedian even seems to make fun of his previous, humble videos in a recent Instagram video doesn’t seem to bother anyone. His tour can already be rated as successful. The comeback can be considered a success: Mockridge is back – as if nothing had ever happened.
