Enrique Pinti, illustrious citizen of the city of Buenos Aires

In September 2009, comedian Enrique Pinti received the title of Illustrious Citizen of the City of Buenos Aires in the Buenos Aires Legislature during a ceremony that brought together numerous co-workers, family members and friends of the renowned artist.

The act of recognition took place in the Dorado-Hipólito Yrigoyen Hall of the Legislative Palace of the City thanks to an initiative of the legislator Liliana Parada, of the Social Equality bloc.

“I feel very happy because I don’t change this city for any other. I like being a porteño,” Pinti said upon receiving the diploma that distinguished him as an Illustrious Citizen and added that “when I was young, I considered this type of tribute as something mortuary, but now I see it as a great recognition”.

In addition, he joked that he was “happy to receive the distinction one month after turning 70, when I still remember who I am and I am in good health.”

Present at the ceremony were Renata Schussheim, Marilú Marini, Ricky Pashkus, Guillermo Francella, Eleonora Cassano and Julia Zenko, who performed the well-remembered song “Quedan los Artistas”, which was part of the show “Salsa Criolla” that Pinti did for more than ten years.

“I think that Pinti is a great speaker, a forerunner in his genre who always reconstructs reality with shrewd, intelligent and sarcastic analogies, something difficult to achieve in the country we have today and that is why he deserves to be recognized with this mention,” emphasized the Legislator Stop.

In his turn, Francella, the artist chosen to dedicate a few words to the honoree, said that he felt “gratified to witness the recognition” of Pinti and that the tribute “is like a platinum brooch to someone who is about to turn seven decades “.

Meanwhile, a letter sent by Julio Bocca was read for the ceremony and another text from the first vice president of the Legislature, Diego Santilli, who expressed his admiration for “those who do not seek easy applause with demagogic words, but who intend to move us, call us the attention and squeeze the wound where it hurts the most. That’s why he’s a true artist”.
