The comedian Oliver Pocher is attacked in the auditorium at a boxing event. How could this happen? A boxing promoter has a clear opinion on this.
After the attack on the comedian Oliver Pocher (44) on the sidelines of a boxing match in Dortmund, the boxing promoter attributed the main responsibility for the incident to the operators of the hall.
“It was a total failure of the security service. I can assure you that I will never again host events in the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund,” said Ludger Inholte in a “Spiegel” interview (online/Monday).
“I wasn’t allowed to bring my own catering partner, I wasn’t allowed to sell the programs myself, and finally – and this is the reason for this escalation – I wasn’t allowed to work with the security company of my choice,” said the boxing organizer. A request from the German Press Agency to the Westfalenhallen group of companies initially went unanswered on Monday.
After the attack on Pocher, a man was investigated for bodily harm. He is said to have hit the 44-year-old entertainer (“Pocher – dangerously honest!”) in the face without warning. Police were notified of the incident around 11:48 p.m. Saturday. “We initiated an investigation that night,” said Dortmund police spokesman Peter Bandermann on Sunday. The various videos of the incident would be secured as evidence.
According to media reports, the attacker was a rapper. He later justified the attack via Instagram with his dislike for Pocher, newspapers report. As of Sunday afternoon, the rapper’s Instagram profile was no longer available.
