Gustavo Zavala, bassist and founder of the heavy metal band Tren Loco, has died at the age of 61.

Last Friday, the group had issued an extensive message in which Zavala had been hospitalized for some time, had undergone several surgeries and blood donors were requested.

Immediately, colleagues and fans began to flood the band’s networks with messages of support for friends and family, and memories that defined the bassist as “one of the best people in the world.”

Zavala had begun his artistic path in the ’70s and formed various groups until 1990 when he gave life to Tren Loco, where he also served as the main composer.

Since then, the band has established itself as a benchmark in the genre, with more than ten albums released and countless tours around the country and abroad.

Alone, Zavala released several albums of metal music adapted for babies and a single solo work in 2017 entitled “SUR (Somos una rebelión).

He also developed an interesting career as a writer of fiction and fantastic reality stories.
