The “Tatort” star Richy Müller will be seen at the Bad Hersfeld Festival in one of the main roles in “Notre Dame”.
The opening piece of the 71st Bad Hersfeld Festival has a special theatrical treat to offer. “Tatort” star Richy Müller (66) will take on the role of Claude Frollo in “Notre Dame”. The theater version by Tilman Raabke and Joern Hinkel celebrates its world premiere on July 1st at 9:00 p.m. on the stage of the monastery ruins in Bad Hersfeld.
Richy Müller “fills the space”
“It’s a phenomenon. Richy Müller enters the stage and fills the room. But that’s exactly part of his secret. He’s able to immerse himself in his roles without pretending,” said the director of the Bad Hersfeld Festival Mueller’s obligation. The acting star is smart and has a sense of humor, which is a “wonderful, rare combination”.
The play is based on the novel “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame” by Victor Hugo (1802-1885). Hinkel, who also directs, will use a special technique for the performance. They work “with computer-animated projections […]which are tailored directly to the architecture of the monastery ruins”. This makes it possible “that the historic sandstone walls seem to move, that stones suddenly fall out of the masonry or that the entire nave is on fire”.
