Donation event: Stars get a vegan menu this time at the Met-Gala

The gala, which actually always takes place in May, was canceled this year and last year due to corona. The event will now be rescheduled on September 13th – with a culinary specialty.

At this year’s gala at the New York Metropolitan Museum, the stars will be presented with a vegan menu created by ten chefs.

“After two difficult years for the restaurant industry, this will tell the story of a group of dynamic chefs and present an exciting menu of delicious plant-based dishes,” said star chef Marcus Samuelsson, who selected the ten chefs. The participating cooks are Fariyal Abdullahi, Nasim Alikhani, Emma Bengtsson, Lazarus Lynch, Junghyun Park, Erik Ramirez, Thomas Raquel, Sophia Roe, Simone Tong and Fabian von Hauske, as the museum announced.

The gala, which actually takes place every year on the first Monday in May, was canceled this year and last year due to the coronavirus pandemic and is now to be rescheduled on September 13th. Participants include actor Timothée Chalamet, singer Billie Eilish, poet Amanda Gorman and tennis professional Naomi Osaka. The supreme hostess is again Anna Wintour, head of the US fashion magazine “Vogue”.

The “Met Ball” gala, often referred to as the “Party of the Year”, is an annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute. The annual budget of the institute, which is celebrating its 75th birthday this year and is now named after Wintour, is estimated at several million dollars in revenue from the festival.
