Cannes Film Festival: Most of the judges are women

The Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to take place from July 6th to 17th. The jury has provided a few surprises this year.

In 2021, the Cannes Film Festival will also be dedicated to the power of women. And right from the start: this time there are more women than men on the elite committee. Actress and director Maggie Gyllenhaal (43), French actress Mélanie Laurent (38), French-Senegalese director Mati Diop (39), Austrian director Jessica Hausner (48) and French singer Mylene Farmer (59) were chosen this year .

In addition to them, Spike Lee (64) is the first black president of the jury. French actor Tahar Rahim (39), Brazilian film director Kleber Mendonça Filho (52) and South Korean “Parasite” star Song Kang Ho (54) complete the jury.

Jodie Foster and Marco Bellocchio are honored

The Cannes International Film Festival is scheduled to take place from July 6th to 17th in the city of the same name on the Côte d’Azur. Last year, the festival could not be held as usual due to the corona pandemic. Actress Jodie Foster (58) and filmmaker Marco Bellocchio (81) will receive the honorary award this year.
