Stelzer praised the diverse commitment of the recipients: “A look at the whole shows how incomparably diverse and deeply rooted art and culture are in Upper Austria.”
As part of the award ceremony, the State of Upper Austria also thanked two personalities for their valuable donations: Anneliese Smigielski from Wallern gave the letters from Adolf Hitler’s father found in her private home to the State of Upper Austria. Arthur Viehböck gave valuable parts of the estate to his wife, the outstanding artist Waltrud Viehböck. Both received the “Cultural Medal of the State in Silver”.
The other honorees: Margareta Gahleitner (St. Veit/Mühlkreis), Eva Bosch and Christine Schöpf (both Linz, Gold Cultural Medal); Walter Baldinger (Niederthalheim), Emilian Tantana (Bad Ischl), Johanna Wagner and Rudolf Wötzlmayr (both Raab, golden culture medal of the state). Monika Klepp (St. Veit/M.) and Josef Plöchl (Hirschbach) each received the Silver Culture Medal. Anneliese Smigielski (Wallern) and Arthur Viehböck (Linz) received the State Cultural Medal in silver and Harald Birklhuber from Kronstorf, Rosemarie Lackner from Walding and Heide Stockinger from Linz received the State Cultural Medal in bronze.
