According to the last directors who worked with him, Bruce Willis already showed signs of aphasia

Aphasia is a condition caused by damage to a specific part of the brain that controls the expression and understanding of language. It often leaves people unable to communicate effectively with others.

Director Mike Burnswho worked with Willis on the film out of death 2021, he told the Los Angeles Times that he had to condense all of the actor’s footage into one day of filming.

“After the first day on the job with Bruce, I got to see him firsthand and realized there was a bigger issue at play here and why they had asked me to shorten their lines,” Burns said.

Burns collaborated with Willis again on the film. The Wrong Place, which is scheduled to be released this year, but he was worried about his mental faculties. When filming began, Burns thought Willis’s condition “was worse” and decided not to work with him again. “I’m relieved he’s taking some time off,” he said.

Jesse V Johnsonwho most recently directed Willis in white-elephant (which does not yet have a release date), said that “it was clear that he was not the Bruce that I remembered”, having worked with Willis decades before as a stuntman. Johnson also decided not to make another movie with Willis after that experience.

“We’re all fans of Bruce Willis, and the arrangement felt wrong and was ultimately a pretty sad ending to an incredible career, one that none of us felt comfortable with,” Johnson said.

the reality star Lala Kent also shared an incident with the Times, discussing the period during which he worked with Willis on the 2020 film Hard Kill. Kent alleges that Willis repeatedly fired a prop gun prematurely at the wrong time. “Because my back was to him, I wasn’t aware of what was going on behind me. But the first time, it was like, ‘No big deal, let’s reset,'” she said.

Randall Emmett, Kent’s ex and the film’s producer, denied that this happened, as did the film’s gunsmith.

“Bruce and I have worked on over 20 movies together,” Emmett wrote in a statement he shared on Instagram. “He is a terrific actor and legendary action star, an amazing father and close friend. I fully support Bruce and his family during this difficult time and I admire him for his courage in battling this incredibly difficult medical condition. Bruce will always be a part of my family”.
