What are the ultimate must-haves on an outdoor vacation?
Candy Crash: I don’t leave the house without sunscreen, that also counts for outdoor holidays. Otherwise, the basics include a tent, sleeping bag, pocket knife, concealer, hairspray and an emergency ration of glitter.
What clothes should you definitely pack?
Crash: Proper walking shoes are a must. It has already happened to me that on the first day of a hiking holiday, the sole said goodbye to the shoe. Of course, you only need high heels as second shoes – for hot selfies during the hiking break.
What are the most common mistakes and how can you avoid them?
Crash: A common mistake is underestimating distances when looking at the hiking map. What is two kilometers as the crow flies can quickly turn out to be a twelve-kilometer march – due to differences in altitude and blocked paths. It’s like my look in the mirror: A heavily made-up man in women’s clothes hides beneath the beautiful drag queen. What a disappointment! (laughs)
What should you consider when choosing a place to sleep?
Crash: Even if you are hiking alone, you should always look for beds that are big enough for two to three people. You never know which bear will still want to cuddle up with you at night.
