Pop singer Madonna lost her mother at a very young age. The memory keeps her awake in a very special way.
Pop icon Madonna commemorates her mother who died early with a “Maman” tattoo. “I do this for my mother,” says the 63-year-old in a video that shows how she gets the lettering – the French word for “mama” – tattooed on her wrist.
“It’s my turn to bleed for my mother,” says the singer in the clip she shared on Instagram. In the video she explains: “Because what do you do when you give birth to a child? You’re bleeding.”
To her son David, who stops by later in the video, the pop star says: “I can’t take my mother’s name because it’s the same as mine. It would look like I had my own damn name written on my arm.” Madonna’s mother, Madonna Louise Fortin, died of breast cancer in 1963 when today’s world star was five years old.
Madonna has the letter X tattooed over the new tattoo – her album released in 2019 was called «Madame X». The pop star also has several other tattoos, including her children’s initials, according to US magazine People.
