Singer Shawn Mendes (23) says he will always keep his ex-girlfriend, singer Camila Cabello (25), in his heart.
“I have loved Camila for so many years and that will never change,” said the Canadian on the US radio show “On Air with Ryan Seacrest”. He and the Cuban-American singer remain good friends, Mendes said. They announced their separation in November.
He can understand that even a happy relationship can sometimes feel scary – because of the fear that happiness could eventually be over. “I think a lot of people have that fear, but in a lot of ways, I think a breakup can also be a blessing.”
In his new single “When You’re Gone” Mendes sings about letting go. In December, about two weeks after the breakup, he published the ballad “It’ll Be Okay”, in which he addressed the end of a painful relationship.
