Pink Floyd are back with a benefit single for Ukraine

The 2014 release “The Endless River” consisted of old session outtakes. David Gilmour does not sing on “Hey, Hey, Rise Up” but Andriy Khlyvnyuk, frontman of the Ukrainian rock band BoomBox, takes over the vocals. He overlays the melody of the Ukrainian protest song “Oi u luzi chervona kalyna” over an instrumental track by Gilmour and Nick Mason. They are supported by bassist Guy Pratt and keyboardist Nitin Sawhney.

David Gilmour, who has a Ukrainian daughter-in-law and grandchildren: “Like so many, we felt the anger and disappointment at this heinous act of invading an independent, peaceful, democratic country and murdering its people by one of the world’s greatest powers.” All proceeds benefit a relief fund for Ukraine.
