Chris Rock would talk Oscar slap for money

Chris Rock is currently touring through America and keeps incorporating the Oscar slap into his program from time to time. Last Friday, he hinted that he would be paid to comment on the incident.

Two weeks ago, comedian Chris Rock received a slap in the face from Will Smith on the Oscars stage after he made a joke about Smith’s ailing wife. Since that incident, the comedian’s market value has skyrocketed. Tickets for his national comedy tour went from $50 to as much as $8,000 on the black market. Now he made hints during an appearance that he would also talk about the Oscar slap for money.

The comedian told a live audience on Friday that he would not discuss the Oscars until he was compensated. This could mean that he could sell his version and attitude to events exclusively or still hope for some form of compensation. So far, it has been said that Chris Rock will not report Will Smith for assault. But the comedian also hinted that he may have been struggling with secondary damage from the slap for the past two weeks. So he said about the scandal at his show: “I’m fine, I have a whole show and I don’t talk about it until I get paid, life is good, I have my hearing back.”

Chris Rock could also have meant the saying humorously

It’s unclear how seriously he meant this statement, so in the last two weeks almost every medium has approached the comedian to do an exclusive story about Oscar night with him and so far he doesn’t seem to have accepted an offer. The comedian is also said to have refrained from filing a civil lawsuit, but of course it’s still possible that Smith and Rock reached an out-of-court settlement.

At his first show of the tour in Boston, Rock said on stage that he still had to process the blow. Will Smith, on the other hand, has since been sanctioned by the Academy. He hasn’t been allowed to attend the Oscars for ten years. But he can keep the Oscar he won for his role as “King Richard”.
