At the Invictus Games in Holland, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan do what they do best: enchant the crowds. It was foreseeable that some critics in Great Britain would not like this. In fact, they should be happy about it.
The news that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan would travel to the Netherlands together to attend the Invictus Games caused displeasure among their critics in Great Britain. Because Prince Harry skipped the memorial service in honor of Prince Philips just a few weeks ago. And Megan? She hasn’t been in England since the so-called “Megxit” 2020. Outrageous that the two do not give time for the family, so the criticism.

Well, then everything turned out very differently and the Sussexes stopped over at the Queen’s on their way to Holland. There was talk of an intimate meeting. And this is where it gets absurd. Because you might think the minds of Meghan Harry haters would be soothed, but the opposite is the case. Royal expert Tom Bower called the two the “worst detractors of the royal family” and accused them of exploiting the queen for the purpose of their Netflix documentary.
“I have no doubt that this was all done for her Netflix documentary. The Queen’s advisers failed to protect her from being taken advantage of by the royal family’s worst detractors, while the Sussexes took advantage of an ailing old woman to boost their credibility and their coffers,” Bower told the Daily Mail. If they don’t come, it’s a scandal, if they come, it’s a scandal too. Yes what now? The criticism of the constantly angry Meghan and Harry haters (especially in the British media) is not only contradictory, but simply idiotic.
And the next fight is inevitable. In early June, Britain will be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The fact that Meghan and Harry may also skip this major royal event has also been discussed and scolded for weeks. Now the “Daily Mail” reported that Prince Charles’ employees fear that the opposite could be the case. Because what happens when Meghan and Harry are there and – oh, shock! – outshine the rest of the royal family?
The monarchy needs the shine
All worried and angry should be said: Just let Harry and Meghan shine. The Megxit has deprived the British royal family of a real opportunity, namely to rejuvenate the antiquated monarchy and make it shine. Hopefuls William and Kate recently faced harsh criticism after being greeted by protests on their trip to the Caribbean. And then a report by the “Mail on Sunday” caused a stir, according to which Prince William wanted to slim down the monarchy even more than his father, Prince Charles, was already planning. This could ensure that the royal family loses even more luster.
Meghan and Harry’s performance in Holland proves they can still charm the crowds. Just like they did five years ago when they first appeared together at the Invictus Games. Only a few manage to walk the tightrope of exuding glamor and still appearing approachable. Unless you’re filled with hate, it’s easy to see why these two win so many hearts. The royal family would do well to welcome Meghan and Harry with open arms at the jubilee. After all, what’s the harm in a large portion of glamor at an event that is so important for everyone involved? The Queen should be happy to welcome more family members to her special anniversary.
