Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are back in Europe. The Invictus Games are a real affair of the heart for the prince.
According to an acquaintance from the Invictus Games community, Prince Harry (37) is in his element at the Paralympic Games he created.
“Invictus is practically his family. He’s back among his people, he’s back in an environment that’s important to him and that feels natural to him,” said 35-year-old British-South African veteran Jaco van Gaas, who was in Den on Easter Sunday with Harry and Meghan Haag followed the games, the PA news agency. Cyclist van Gaas, who has known Harry for years, was hit by a rocket launcher in Afghanistan in 2009 and lost his left forearm there.
Harry and Meghan watched several competitions in bright sunshine in The Hague on Sunday, congratulated athletes and exchanged ideas with participants. The Invictus Games, scheduled until April 22nd, are considered a matter close to Harry’s heart, which are also very important to him after his retirement from the British crown.
According to the royal observers, the fact that he had to give up his military titles after the break with the royal family is said to have hurt. After his service in Afghanistan, Harry once admitted to feeling more comfortable as “Captain Wales” than as a prince, according to the PA news agency. “It’s easy to forget who I am in the military,” he said at the time.
