Roberto Blanco will soon be 85 years old. This fact and also the war in Ukraine make him think more and more about death.
The hit star Roberto Blanco (84) is actually primarily known for his good mood hit “A little fun has to be”. In an interview with , however, he struck up an unusually serious tone in view of his 85th birthday on June 7th. He can’t help but deal more and more with the difficult subject of death: “You can’t wipe that away. […] That’s the law of life,” Blanco muses.
How he wants to leave is obvious to him: “A normal death, falling asleep, or something like that. It would be nice if the good Lord gave us all that.” He is also aware that he was already very lucky at the age of almost 85. “Everyone has a turn. Even a child who has just been born has a turn. And a man who is 90 or 95. Or even 30.”
A life on stage
It hurts him all the more to see that “war is not far from us. I don’t understand that people haven’t learned.”
Blanco was born in Tunisia in 1937 to a Cuban artist couple; his mother died young. In the mid-1950s he moved to Germany, where he soon began his acting and singing career.
