Depp said he lost the tip of his finger when Heard visited his rented house in Australia while filming pirates of the caribbean 5. That day, Heard had flown in from Los Angeles but was upset about a meeting she had with a lawyer to discuss Depp’s request for a “postnuptial” agreement.
“She kept saying, ‘I’m not even in your will. I’m not even in your will. I thought that was a weird thing to say…it felt bad, and she kept saying that I was in this post-nuptial agreement and that I was trying to trick her so that she wouldn’t get anything if something happened,” Depp told the jury.
The actor said their argument escalated and Heard “was furious and possessed,” calling him a “lawyer ass kisser” and a “faggot.”. She said she tried to lock herself in at least nine different rooms and a bathroom, but she banged on doors and screamed. She said that she called Jake Bloom, her attorney, to try to get the attorneys on the phone because “he was very upset that they pushed her to that limit because I believed it. In fact, none of that had ever happened.”
Depp said he eventually went to the downstairs rec room of the house where, despite having been sober for several months, he poured himself two or three shots of vodka.
“She found me there [y dijo], ‘You’re drinking again, you’re a monster and all that,'” Depp said. In that, according to his testimony, Heard grabbed the bottle and threw it at him, and that it went right over his head and crashed behind him. She said that she then walked behind the bar and poured herself a shot from a larger bottle of vodka.
On the witness stand, Depp stood up demonstrating how he was when, he said, Heard grabbed the other bottle and threw it at him. “My hand was on the edge of the bar and she threw the big bottle and it made contact and it broke everywhere and I honestly didn’t feel the pain at all… I looked down and realized that the tip of my finger had been cut off“, revealed.
“I was looking right at my protruding bone and the fleshy inside of your finger. And the blood was coming out. She said later He went into “a kind of nervous breakdown” and began to write on the walls with his own blood. She didn’t say what was written, but she said they were “little reminders of our past that represented lies she had told me and lies she had caught her in.”
Heard’s lawyers said they intend to argue that Depp’s injury was self-inflicted. Depp said he was in “shock” but couldn’t remember what Heard said next and then went to the emergency room, but told the doctor that he had broken his finger on some big accordion doors.
He maintained that he did not want to reveal that Heard had dropped the bottle, as he wanted to keep things “as calm as possible”. The jury was shown graphic photos of his injury, as well as a photo of Depp’s face. Depp pointed to a mark he said came from Heard putting out the cigarette on his cheek.
Depp said he underwent surgery to reconstruct the finger by grafting skin from another part of his hand. He said that he wore a bandage for the rest of production, but it was removed in the film via CGI.
