The Brazilian football legend Pelé has been able to leave the clinic again. He had to have his tumor disease treated again.

This was learned from the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paolo. A tumor on the colon was removed from the former world-class player more than six months ago. Since then he has had to endure several hospital stays and chemotherapy.

He was last admitted to the hospital two days ago. At this point it was already said that he was in good health, but that his tumor disease had to be treated further. He could probably be released after a few days. Pelé’s tumor was discovered during a routine check-up in September and immediately surgically removed. The football icon was then in intensive care for a long time and was only able to leave the clinic a month later.

In December he was again in the clinic for treatment for two weeks, in February he had to stay longer than planned in the Brazilian hospital due to a urinary tract infection. Pelé is considered one of the best soccer players of all time and has won the world championship three times with his national team.

Pelé’s health made headlines

Pelé’s health has made headlines several times in recent years. The Brazilian record scorer (77 goals in 92 caps) has had multiple hip surgeries, spine and knee problems and a serious urinary tract infection in 2019.

Pelé also used a wheelchair or walker for some public appearances. Reports that he suffers from depression because of his health problems, Pelé firmly rejected.
