French actor Jacques Perrin died, remembered for “Cinema Paradiso”

“The family is deeply saddened to report the passing of filmmaker Jacques Perrin, who died on Thursday April 21 in Paris. He passed away peacefully.”announced his relatives in a statement.

Born in Paris in 1941, he made his film debut at the age of five and in the 1950s began a professional career that made him widely recognized in the French audiovisual industry.

Agnès Varda, Jacques Demy, Costa Gavras, Vittorio de Seta, Pierre Schoendoerffer and Giuseppe Tornatore directed him in films such as “Le Crabe-tamour”, “Les Demoiselles de Rochefort”, “Cinema Paradiso” or “The Showgirls”, with success world box office.

He was also awarded the César Award for Best Producer for the documentary “Microcosmos: La Gente de la Hierba” in 1997.
