Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard Trial: These Two Stars Avoid Testimony

Elon Musk and James Franco will probably not testify in Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against Amber Heard after all.

Tesla boss Elon Musk (50) and Hollywood star James Franco (44) will allegedly not testify in the defamation process of Johnny Depp (58) and Amber Heard (36). The two celebrities are said to have been named as possible witnesses by Heard’s legal team.

According to US media reports, the two men should be connected via video to the courtroom in Virginia. Amber Heard reportedly dated Musk for about a year after her split from Johnny Depp. Franco was apparently a close confidant of the actress.

, but neither Musk nor Franco will testify when Heard’s legal team calls witnesses next week. Reasons for this were not given. the two men do not appear in the process. According to the report, Musk’s lawyer Alex Spiro has confirmed that the entrepreneur will not testify.

Second trial of Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp has sued Amber Heard for $50 million (€46 million) over a 2018 post she published in the Washington Post. In it, she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence. She did not mention her ex-husband by name. Depp claims the post nonetheless ruined his career, damaged his reputation and cost him a lot of money as a result. According to Variety, Heard filed a $100 million counterclaim against her ex.

Depp and Heard began dating in early 2012 after meeting on the set of The Rum Diary. The Hollywood stars got married in 2015. The marriage lasted only 15 months. The actor lost a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper “The Sun” in Great Britain in 2020. The newspaper had described Depp in an article as a “wife beater”. Depp has denied all allegations of domestic violence.
