There are hygiene concepts for corona prevention. “Personally, I am of the opinion that the 3-G rule actually no longer makes sense at the moment.” The intensive care units are currently not overloaded and a large part of the population has been vaccinated.
Haimbuchner emphasized that he himself will most likely be vaccinated. However, he is still waiting because he still has enough antibodies after his corona infection, which also brought him to the intensive care unit. He will make a final decision after consulting his doctors. At the same time, he pleaded for the promotion of antibody tests – you will see that a large part of the population has already been infected with the virus.
Own FP candidate in the BP election
In the next federal presidential election, Haimbuchner tends to nominate his own liberal candidate. “I am fundamentally of the opinion that the FPÖ should always have a candidate for each office,” said Haimbuchner in the Ö1 “Mittagsjournal”. He would be happy if Norbert Hofer runs again – but this will only be finally clarified when the incumbent Alexander Van der Bellen has decided on a candidacy.
For the upcoming state election in September, Haimbuchner reaffirmed the election target of remaining the second strongest force and reaching over 20 percent. The year 2015 with over 30 percent was certainly “an exceptional year”, since a lot has happened in the past few years and therefore he considers the 30 percent to be “unlikely”: “I haven’t given up on the goal, but I’m a realist.” Government cooperation with the ÖVP works well. They have “implemented a lot and continue to work well and calmly together”.
