Tom Cruise (59) feels sorry for James Corden (43). The moderator recently announced that he wanted to leave the “Late Late Show” in a year. A week after the big announcement, Cruise guest-starred on the show to promote his new film, Top Gun: Maverick. In a short clip, the actor joked that Corden was fired from The Late Late Show. “I’m here for you tonight, no matter what you need. I wouldn’t have fired you,” the 59-year-old joked.

“It would be great if you could lend me some money,” Corden countered. Cruise continued to be empathetic: “I said no matter what, James, don’t worry.” After the short gag, the moderator welcomed the Hollywood star to his couch to talk about “Top Gun: Maverick”, which opens in German cinemas on May 26th.

James Corden: ‘Late Late Show’ was ‘an adventure’

It wasn’t until the end of April that James Corden announced that he was leaving the show after seven and a half years. He had signed a one-year contract, but then he wanted to move on. “When I started this journey, it was always meant to be just that: a journey, an adventure. I never saw it as my ultimate destination,” explained the Briton.
