Colorful variety of contemporary music inspired

The first concert of the evening was performed by the Israeli violinist Nurit Stark and the Italian cellist Giovanni Gnocchi. The program included music that is not brand new, but like Iannis Xenakis’ “Dhipli Zyia” for violin and cello still fascinates and inspires with rhythmic patterns and clever overlays. Just like Péter Eötvös’ “Adventure of the Dominant Seventh Chord”, which was written specifically for Nuria Stark in 2019. Stark and Gnocchi turned out to be excellent interpreters who served the cause intensively.

Exciting game with melodies

The second part is an experiment: Marco Ambrosini is not only a virtuoso on the nyckelharpa, but also traces the instrument’s path from possibly early Italian ancestors to the far north of Scandinavia. His partner for the hour-long improvisation was the Turkish lyre virtuoso Derya Türkan. Two instruments from different cultures, which found a harmonious coexistence. Exciting game with melodies and rhythms and at the same time skilful interaction and accurate throwing of the musical building blocks.
