The entrance hall is named after William Rouxin homage to the painter who died in 2021, while one of the intermediate rooms is called Vito Campanella, another prominent representative of local art, linked to surrealism and specifically the gallery. In the meantime, The name of the ground floor room is being analyzed, which means another recognition of a local artist with a long history.

Witcomb is exhibiting there 100 works of Milo Lockettin the window and part of the ground floor, while the rest of the space on that floor has paintings by the most important representatives of contemporary Argentine art, such as Castagnino, Berni, Quinquela and Roux himself, among many others.

“Milo is a social phenomenon”, he pointed George Bald, Witcomb headline, in recognition of the artist’s popularity. And he added: “It means, in addition to its known quality, the entrance of the first work of art to many houses.”

Just as it initially focused on Locket, the gallery will always have an artist of the month, whose works will be exhibited in the window on Santa Fe Avenue and at the entrance. For its part, in the basement room, which was completely remodeled to new, both the floor and walls, divisions and carpentry, modern art will be exhibited, in some cases aimed more at decoration, taking into account the tastes of a younger audience.

Let us remember that, previously, the gallery was located at 1050 Riobamba Street, between MT Alvear and Santa Fé, although during the pandemic it was closed for a time, like most spaces, and then it began to receive public but by appointment.

In this sense, the new opening means not only an extension and a location in a neuralgic point, on a large avenue and in an area of art and design, but also that all this occurs in accordance with the return to face-to-face attendance, betting on a large space that, thanks to the use of mobile metal panels, can adequately display several samples simultaneously.

“When we reopened Witcomb, several years ago, we took on the historical legacy of proudly disseminating the art of Argentines, just as Alejandro Witcomb dreamed and promoted it. In that sense, this new space, more visible, larger and with amenities so that the public can approach and enjoy art, means great satisfaction and the certainty that we are taking another step towards achieving that goal”, Bald pointed out.
